Body Painting - 3 Steps to Find the Best Supplies

10 Ways to Make Money With Body Painting
Body Painting - 3 Steps to Find the Best Supplies
10 Ways to Make Money With Body Painting
Ready to get started body painting, but don't know what to use, how to get started or where to find the right supplies? Here's the 3 steps to finding and using good body painting supplies.
Step 1. Know what kind of body painting supplies you need:
There are many kinds of paint out there, and most are not for body painting. If you use the wrong kinds of paint, you may end up with you (or whoever you paint) having a mild to severe allergic reaction to the paint.
A mild reaction could be hives or a body rash. A severe reaction could be difficulty breathing. So don't take this lightly, and get the right paints to start with.
The right kind of body paint is tested for use on human skin and safe to use for overall body painting. They say they are for body painting specifically. Personally I would not go for the 'cheap' good deals on body paint, but would get the best to start with. It's not much more money, and you may as well be safe.
You will also want to get some good brushes and sponges for body painting. You don't need to invest in very expensive brushes, but I would suggest using natural fibers and not the very cheap kinds of craft brushes that will have the hairs falling out as you are using them. Also, cheap stiff brushes will be uncomfortable for the person you are body painting. So get some soft brushes, of 3 different sizes to start with:
- 1 very small with a pointed tip for fine detail
- 1 about a half inch wide
- 1 'fan' brush for blending
You will also want to get some sponges for body painting, in order to put light coats on and also for covering large areas quickly. You can find sponges in the same places you will find body paint. Which brings us to our next 'secret'...
Step 2. Know where to find materials for body painting:
There are two best suppliers for body paints and body painting that I have found.
If you look either of these names up on the internet you will be able to find the right kind of body painting supplies. (You are not likely to find these locally unless you live in a city that happens to have a body painting store or craft store that carries body painting supplies).
Snazaroo is marketed mostly for face painting, and in particular face painting for children. This is because Snazaroo fully complies with FDA and child safety guidelines. This are the only face paint that holds a "child toy safety rating." So if you are looking for the safest paint this would be a good choice.
The other two face and body painting suppliers that have great reputations out there are Kryolan and Mehron.
Kryolan mainly specializes in theatrical and professional body painting supplies, and Mehron is a pro makeup company that also specializes in body painting needs. You will find everything from paints to sponges to paint removal supplies at any of these suppliers, and the best way to find them is online.
Step 3. Know what kind of supplies will best fit your needs:
The main difference between these 3 face and body painting companies is that Snazaroo leans more toward kids and face painting supplies, While Kryolan and Mehron are marketed toward the adult, professional and theatre face and body painting crowd, and you will find a few more, higher grade options there.
Think about what you want to use your face or body paints for. Are you mainly going to be painting kid's faces at a birthday party? Or are you hoping to go into business as a pro body painter for a dance company?
If you're on a budget and want to just get started without investing too much, yet have good quality safe body paints, go with Snazaroo; if you're professional (or want more pro options) and are willing to spend a little more on your body painting, go with Kryolan or Mehron.
So that's it - go take a look and see what supplies would work best for you!
Bonus Tip: Get some baby wipes (natural ones, not the perfumed ones) to remove the paint quickly and easily.

How to Find a Perfect Auto Body Paint Color Match

Body Painting and Air Brushed Body Design
Body Painting and Air Brushed Body Design
To ensure a perfect color match on your auto body paint spraying projects, there are several key actions that must be undertaken. Although most common car colors will rarely match exactly, finding the best shade could help you avoid blending into an adjacent panel. Choose the right color at the first time of asking, and you will also save money on your paint and consumable costs.
Every mass-manufactured vehicle has an individual color code that can be cross-referenced by an auto body paint supply shop, and this allows a mixing formula to be produced. The mixing formula measures the individual weights of colored tinters and when these are combined and stirred together, the correct color match is achieved.
To find your color code, check the door apertures, engine bay or trunk of your vehicle and locate the relevant stamp, badge or sticker. Usually, the color code will be clearly marked and will consist of a combination of letters and numbers. Write down the color code and take it to your paint supply shop, and it will be matched up to produce an accurate color match.
Prior to painting, it is always advisable to complete a paint spraying test card. Activate a small quantity of paint and pour it into a HVLP spray gun. Apply three even coats of color to the test card, allowing a five-minute flash-off time between each one. Once the base color has dried to a matte finish, apply two full coats of clear lacquer and leave to dry.
Once the test card is touch-dry, hold it against your vehicle adjacent to the panel that is being painted. If the test card matches the existing auto body paint on your vehicle to perfection, there will be no need to blend the panels on either side of the repair. If the color match is in any way inaccurate, it is advisable to rub down the adjacent panels with a soft sanding pad and flatting paste. This will provide a perfectly keyed surface that will accept blended color and clear coat.
When you come to paint the vehicle, use the same spraying distances as those applied during the test card procedure. If different spraying distances are used, the base color can lighten or darken. A superior blend can be achieved if the auto body panels are coated with a clear binder before work begins. This process allows seamless integration of your new auto body paint into the existing panels without the risk of color edges showing.

The History Of Body Painting

Body art is the decoration of the human body. The most common forms of body art are tattoos, professional makeup, body painting, fashion makeup, face painting and temporary airbrush tattoos. Body painting is a form of temporary body art. Unlike permanent tattoos, body painting can lasts for several hours. Body painting has been a significant part of rituals dating back thousands of years. Body painting and face painting, along with dancing and drumming, were the means for some cultures to reach specific altered state of consciousness. In this state, group members would lose the sensation of fear and pain and become fully dedicated to the group interests. This state was crucial for physical survival and as a defense from predators, enemies or other forces of the nature.
In today's world body painting is largely used in the fashion and film industry. It is also commonly used as a method of gaining attention in political protests or expressing rage, beliefs or feelings. Painting that is restricted to the face is known as face painting, professional makeup or fashion makeup. Traditional face painting is applied with face makeup, brush and sponge. The more contemporary form of face painting utilizes Vibe airbrush face makeup and an airbrush. Fashion makeup, also known as extreme beauty makeup, consist primarily of designs applied around the eye area using highly pigmented colors and shimmers.
While permanent tattoos have been around for thousands of years, the desire to remove or cover permanent tattoos has likely existed almost as long. The same desire that exists to remove or cover permanent tattoos also applies to scars or skin imperfections that may exist on an individual's skin. Typical processes for removing permanent tattoos or correcting or hiding scars or skin imperfections include painful and expensive surgical procedures, such as laser removal, that can result in scarring. Less permanent methods involve the application of professional makeup. There are many different types of professional makeup including foundation, powders, lip sticks, mascaras and bronzers. Most of the professional makeup media can be applied with a brush and sponge. Yet, the fastest and smoothest application can be achieved with an airbrush.
The most common form of body painting is temporary airbrush tattoos. Temporary airbrush tattoos are quickly applied using an airbrush and stencils. Airbrush tattoos can last for days and are removable with rubbing alcohol. Temporary airbrush tattoos have been applied for a variety of different purposes, including decoration, social status, and as a sign of endearment.

Body Painting and Air Brushed Body Design

Each year during Fantasy Fest this event is held on the waterfront overlooking scenic Key West harbor. Beautiful, sexy, almost naked women, along with many creative and talented air brush design artists come to the city during the week long adult themed costume party that culminates with a huge parade on the Festival ending Saturday night. Everyday during the week, Body Painting Artists can be seen setting up their small studio booths on the streets and in different shops, sidewalk cafes, bars, and painting the sexy, beautiful bodies of women with exotic art designs. Some women get a different air brushed design done everyday and walk the streets showing off their body art as they wait for the big event competition that begins on the Friday evening and is called "The Living Arts Airbrush Body Painting Contest".
Airbrushed Art design is an artistic talent that transforms your everyday skin into a beautifully designed pattern, it can be a living animal, a flower, a vampire, or almost any life form you so desire. The artists use airbrushing to create a design or idea that you bring to them. Any part of your body can be painted and covered with a creative design. Body painting artists are very skilled artists and will cover any parts of your body that you wish, from the top of your head to the tip of your toe. And if you can't make up your mind which part to paint, you can have your entire body air brushed so it completely disguises the real you underneath the art. By using this method of airbrushing, and drawing a design pattern, your body can be entirely transformed into your wildest fantasy design form.
Depending on the art design you choose, the process can take from a several minutes to many hours. The mastery of air brushed art design takes a little time and requires your patience and cooperation with the artist who's turning you into a vampire, a butterfly, a dragon or some other fantastic design.
You may be completely naked and no one will know because your covered up and it looks like you have a costume on. Or you can have a clothing outfit designed and painted on you and it will look as though your dressed. The artist can design a dress, pants, shorts, or any clothing that you wish, even make you look fully dressed or have a bikini outfit on, any outfit you can imagine. The artists make it look so real it does actually seem like you have clothes on...it's so lifelike looking!
Not all airbrushed body art means having to get completely naked and be painted in front of a group of people. You can do it in a private setting if your shy, or you can let others watch your transformation. Any portion of your skin can be painted into a beautiful, sexy airbrushed art design. Many women just appreciate the art and have designs done on parts of their body to show off or to be kept private for only certain eyes to see. Whatever the case may be, there really is not a limit to what a person can have painted. A butterfly, a Dragon, a star pattern, or a floral display, anything you may choose can be designed and painted by the air brush artist.
Your airbrushed design will typically last for a day and can easily be removed. Because it isn't permanent, you have the option to become whatever or whoever your imagination desires. The only thing holding you back from being doing it is your wildest imagination and choosing the design of what or who you want to be!

Body Painting With Henna

Using Liquid Latex As Body Paint

Painting body with henna is an increasing trend in many countries. Mostly women living in Middle East and Far East paint their bodies with henna. Some do it as a ritual and other do it for fun. The exquisite and delicate designs are what make painting the body with henna so much interesting. The custom of painting the body with henna dates back 5000 years. The interesting thing about this kind of painting is that it is temporary and one can create new designs every four weeks. So people looking for temporary tattoo and painting can opt for henna body painting as it is safe, reliable, cheap and easy to use. Also it provides the exquisite and imaginative look which people really love.
Painting your body with henna can be time consuming if you opt for difficult and delicate designs. There are certain things that one must be aware off before painting their body with henna. One can buy henna online from many websites but the important thing to be considered is that the quality should be exemplary in order to get the best reddish-brown color. If henna paste is applied for a small period of time and then washed it will leave a pale color. Similarly if it is applied for a longer period of time like several hours then it will leave a dark reddish-brown color which will take about 4 to 6 weeks to wear off. Also the process of painting body with henna is painless. It is only applied on the surface of the skin and not injected into the skin like other body art.
An important thing to remember here is that one must be aware of their allergies. Sometimes the oils in henna paste cause rashes and other allergic reactions, to avoid such situations these people can use purified henna. Traditionally henna was applied to the hair, foot and hands and mostly during special events like weeding and other ritualistic events. These days the trend is increasing solely because of the quality and advantages of painting the body with henna over other forms of body art. Painting the body with henna portrays creativity and delicacy.

Auto Body Paint Repair - Important Considerations

Using Liquid Latex As Body Paint

Using Liquid Latex As Body Paint
There are many different things that could cause you to go shopping for auto body paint repair services. One of these is the effect of age on a car's paint work: where the paint work almost inevitably tends to get worn out with the passage of time. Then there is the effect of dents and scratches, even on an absolutely new car which could see you having to find someone the repair the body paint work. You could also find yourself looking for car body paint work repairs if you are considering selling your car; in a bid to increase its apparent worth and in turn, its resale value. Yet another reason you could be looking for auto body paint repair services is simply to improve your car's aesthetics, for it is often said that a car's image is a reflection of its owner.
Now there are some important considerations you need to make, even as you shop for car body paint work repair services. The first of these is the cost factor. Do not expect car body paint work repair services to come cheap. They tend to be quite expensive, so that you would probably be look at a minimum of two hundred bucks, for the smallest of repairs. For larger jobs (like where you want the whole car to be repainted), or for specialized jobs (where you want higher quality results), the costs can be significantly higher.
The scope of the auto body paint repair service required is also an important consideration; one which goes a long way in determining the ultimate cost and time frame for the project. Obviously, if you are looking to change your car's color completely, you will not expect the project to take as long as it would if you were looking to have a few spots here and there repainted.
The current state of your car, like whether it is relatively good looking or whether it looks like a collector's item is likely to be another major consideration in this matter; which goes a long way towards determining the cost and time frame for the auto body paint repair project. The people you choose to partner with for your car body paint repair project can also make a great difference. In this regard, there is a tendency to favor the bigger companies over the smaller ones; since the costs per unit for the bigger service providers tend to be lower.
From all this, it becomes clear that one needs to undertake a bit of research and have a basic understanding of the whole auto body paint repair services business before going shopping for the services in question. But with the very huge wealth of information the Internet has brought (literally) up to our fingertips, this sort of research should not be too hard. Ideally, this research should be supplemented by consultation with a professional, who can advise you on the type of service you really need for your car and where to get it cost effectively.
In addition to acquiring knowledge on repair tips, you should also have a valid auto insurance.
